Ubuntu Studio is not just a Linux Distro, but rather an Official Flavour of Ubuntu Linux; akin to Kubuntu and Xubuntu. Furthermore, unlike many other Flavors, Studio is not just Ubuntu with a different Desktop Environment (DE). Studio comes with tools for audio, graphics, animation, and video production, preinstalled and preconfigured; ready to go out-of-the-box.
But wait, Janet is not a computer/robot, and I don’t think Janet runs linux, so how is Ubuntu Studio anything like a Janet?
Day to day, in their interactions with Janet, they tend to interact with her as a girl “not a girl,” a robot “not a robot,” or as a girl robot. And, Janet politely reminds them that she is actually none of these things.
Ubuntu Studio gets interacted with as a distro or a flavour, and many users fail to realize that Studio could just as easily reply, “not a distro” or “not a flavour,” if it wanted to — all because of the Ubuntu Studio Installer.
Regardless of the Ubuntu Flavour that you prefer, you can open a terminal and type:
sudo apt install ubuntustudio-installer
And, from that installer, you can add some or all of Ubuntu Studio to your existing system. It doesn’t matter if you like Gnome, XFCE, Mate, Plasma, LXDE, Kylin, or if Budgie is your bag, use the installer and BOOM — you got Studio!
And, to thank you for dealing with my strained metaphor this long, here’s Whitney Avalon reminding you of Janet’s operating parameters 😉
