# Not a fan of New Year's Resolutions

*When you suddenly remember that your website is run by blogging software and the last blog post was about 9 months ago, what do you do?*

I sit here and sigh for a moment. That exhale contains an attempt to let go of all the standard “noise” that fills my head when something like that happens; or more precisely, when I come face to face with any form of self-created neglect…

*Can I give myself a Pandemic Pass?* I was having a hard time with all of the changes to everyday life. I can admit that now. For much of the last 3/4 of a year I’ve been dealing with change, and a lot of it; not all of it good (more on that at some point in the future).

Then, I looked at the calendar and realized that it was just after the New Year. This actually made it harder to take action.

I’m not a fan of New Year’s Resolutions.

New Year’s Resolutions are the poster children for the promises most likely to be broken.

And, since you’ve caught me in a moment of honesty, I’ve already made 2 recent life changes that could be described as New Year’s Resolutions:

1. I am back to doing yoga (in some form) everyday — usually right after I wake up.
2. I am back to using Intermittent Fasting as a way to help me stay as conscious as possible about the food that I eat.

*Do I really want to add Blogging at Least Once a Week to that list?*

This is making me wonder **why** I haven’t been writing more often. Where is the energy that I used to put into writing going? Why does it feel like that is some kind of finite resource?

If I could answer these questions, it might be easier to make Blogging into Faux Resolution #3.

Let’s consider this blog post — short as it is — finished for now. I think I can get myself to *conditionally* add blogging to that list — for now. And hopefully, if I can keep myself writing, I may stumble upon the answers to these questions in some future post.
