It may seem a bit [counter-intuitive](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Counterintuitive "Counterintuitive"), but since [Mac OSX is based on BSD](https://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-advocacy/2004-April/001237.html), you open programs (including web browsers) like you do on other [UNIX](https://www.unix.org "Unix") derivatives. In Preferences, under [General](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_officer "General officer"), you will find [Web Browsers](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_browser "Web browser"). Add a new browser. Name it anything you like. Put /usr/bin/open into the Location. And, put -a AppName.app %[URL](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uniform_resource_locator "Uniform resource locator")% into Parameters (substitute your browser’s real name for AppName like [Google](https://www.google.com "Google") Chrome.app).If you find this helpful, please let me know.
